Susan Lucas

I live in a coastal paradise that provides unending inspiration for my work.  My studio is near my home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on Florida’s Emerald Coast. Besides creating art, I teach, juror and judge shows, and act as an advocate for the arts in the community.

I’m a native of Louisville, Kentucky and a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. I  enjoyed twenty years of frequent moves and exotic travels as an Air Force wife, then lived for a decade in the Southern Appalachian mountains. I’ve studied art at Virginia Intermont College, East Tennessee State, and from numerous inspiring individuals. I continue to study at master classes at the Springmaid Watermedia Workshops.

Enriched by decades of different landscapes, inspirations, teachers, and cultures, I returned home to the beach in 1999.

Locally, my work can be seen at Gordie Hinds Contemporary Art in Seaside, Tracery in Rosemary Beach, or by appointment at my studio/gallery.
